John B. Powell
Personal Injury, General Litigation,
Domestic Relations
I was born in Toledo, Ohio and grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Practicing law provides the variety and independence I wanted in a career.
After graduating from law school, I clerked for the Allen Superior Court - General Trial Division. I practiced in Indianapolis doing insurance defense work for two years before returning to Fort Wayne in 1985 to join Shambaugh, Kast, Beck & Williams, LLP.
My areas of practice focus on general litigation, domestic relations and personal injury. I enjoy the challenge of the court room. Helping clients successfully navigate litigation matters are among the most rewarding aspects of my career. I strive to take an objective, reasonable approach to litigation by keeping my clients' interests at the forefront, focusing on the final result but mindful of cost-efficiency at all times.
Outside of practicing law, I enjoy most sports, traveling, sailing, and history, particularly the Civil War (not always in that order!).
